My Month In Pictures #7

Well, seeing as it has been over a month since my last ‘Week In Pictures’ I thought I had better change the title of this post! It’s been a busy few weeks filled with lots of fun – I caught up on girly time with my best friend Kate before I left the UK again, I arrived back to lovely sunshine (and a few thunder storms, bizarre!) in Dubai. I also enjoyed a sophisticated all you can eat and drink wine and cheese night with Gavin, which ended up not being quite so classy after we overindulged on the wine and decided to go clubbing afterwards – picture my horrendous dance moves being thrown about (needless to say in my drunken mind I was obviously Beyonce!)…don’t pretend you’ve never done it before! Gavin also treated me to a lovely couple of days away in Abu Dhabi for our birthday weekend, there are only five days between our birthdays so we have the added bonus of being able to celebrate together, which is always nice! We also celebrated the fact that it has been six years since our first date, ahh!

Drinking my spiced tea from Sri Lanka  //  Saw these in a university window, wonder which lesson they were for?!  //  I just wanna squeeze her!!!

Night out with my bestest before I left  //  I love a nice walk on a crisp day  //  The morning view from under my covers

I know I’m back in Dubai when laziness takes over and every meal is eaten out. Even breakfast, lazy bones!  //  Nothing like a walk along the beach to cure a hangover  //  Best buds

Birthday girl  //  Birthday cake from the Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi, yummy!  //  Wine and cheese night with the boy

Review: Schwarzkopf got2b Beach Matt Mermaid Look Texturising Salt Spray

I love a texturising spray to give my hair a bit of body, so when I saw this beach matt salt spray by Schwarzkopf that happens to be advertised as having the ability to give you a ‘mermaid look’, well that was me sold – who doesn’t want hair like a mermaid right?! I know I certainly do!
The first time I used this was while my hair was still wet and with it being a salt spray, it made my hair do exactly what it does at the beach, that being it went extremely curly and big. While this isn’t a bad look it isn’t the one I tend to go for, I prefer a natural wave with some texture, so I decided to try this on my hair after it had air dried and that was the exact outcome that I received. My hair is naturally curly but when left to air dry without scrunching or using any product it ends up nice and wavy. I tend not to use mousse as it accentuates my curls but in not using any product I find my hair can be a bit fly away and well, slightly fluffy (if that makes sense?!). What I love about this spray is that it gives my hair texture and a bit of lift while not making it stiff at all as I’ve previously experienced with salt sprays.
So if you happen to be after some added texture or if you want to bring out your natural waves or curls, I would highly recommend this product. While I can’t guarantee you’ll look like a mermaid, I can safely say this will provide you with that ‘messy yet done’ bohemian look, perfect for spring and summer.

Review: Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser

A few weeks ago in my sampling the goods post I mentioned that I was on the hunt for some new skin care and the main item I was after was a cleanser, but not just any old cleanser – one that was aimed towards combination/oily skin but that did not over dry my face. Not a lot to ask for (you would think) however my search seemed to be endless, until I found this gentle foaming cleanser with tamarind and purifying micro-beads from Clarins. I must admit when I picked up a sample of this product I didn’t hold out much hope, foaming cleansers are usually too astringent on my skin but I thought I’d try it out anyway and I was very pleasantly surprised! So much so that after a week I went out and bought the full sized bottle which at £18 I consider to be fairly mid range on the skin care price scale.
I’ve been using this for just over a month now both on a morning and night and I love how it feels on my skin, it has a luxurious creamy consistency which lathers up a treat and the micro-beads are almost unnoticeable. After use my skin feels squeaky clean yet moisturised at the same time, I would highly recommend this cleanser for anybody with combination to oily skin especially if you find that cleansers aimed at this skin type are often too harsh. I’ve definitely noticed that my complexion is a lot more balanced than it was previously. The bottle is also fairly large considering you only need a pea sized amount of the product which is a bonus as it will last for ages. I can definitely see myself repurchasing this after it runs out!
